About Us

The WordPress Foundation is a 501(c)(3) that provides educational events, conferences, and ongoing training opportunities in the internet technology industry.  Volunteers organize WordCamp Chicago. This annual educational conference provides opportunities for members of the WordPress Community to learn new skills, share knowledge, and network with other businesses and individuals.

Mary DuQuaine

Mary A DuQuaineMary DuQuaine is a digital marketing strategist and director for Integrated Marketing Think Tank in Chicago. She is also an adjunct professor for Lewis University teaching Social Media Marketing.  She enjoys the challenge of combining Search Engine Optimization, Social Media, Copywriting, Email Marketing, Website Usability and Analytics to help businesses achieve success online.  Mary also has over 15 years of experience in working for non-profits where she hoaned her skills in communication, leadership, training, community building and event organizing.

Mary started using WordPress for corporate and personal blogging in 2008 and believes it is an excellent platform for building a centralized axis for your online presence.  She is inspired by the local WordPress Community in Chicago and appreciates all of the creative ways that people are building business and exchanging information with WordPress.

Mary is the organizer for Chicago WomenTech Meetup and welcomes contacts and connections on Facebook,  Twitter @ExPrTMary and LinkedIn.

Heather Acton

Heather ActonHeather Acton is a corporate dropout turned at-home mom and WordPress entrepreneur. She took her 10+ years of experience with a Fortune 500 company and poured it into developing a rock solid WordPress web development business that she runs from home with her four and two year olds underfoot. Heather values honesty, respect, and in always giving more than she gets. You’ll catch Heather smiling and enjoying friends at Lake County Social Networking events, handing out WordPress advice on Twitter and the #MsTech group on Facebook, and around town co-organizing this awesome WordCamp Chicago 2011. Becky Davis

Becky DavisBecky is the principle at Becky Davis Design and has been designing custom themes and developing WordPress sites for several years. Her proudest accomplishment to date is designing this site for her favorite event.

She is a regular presenter at SCORE, doing seminars on web design and WordPress for small business owners. She is active in several web-related meet-up groups in Chicago and is an assistant organizer for the Webmasters group and the Web Professionals group. Mert Sahinoglu

Mert SahinogluMert Sahinoglu is the online marketing manager at Robert Bosch Tool Corporation. Previous he has had 11 years of Integrated Marketing Consulting with a portfolio of over 100 international and local brands including Fortune 100 companies and major universities. He is also a local Chicago entrepreneur as a partner at Falcon Living Chicago Real Estate. His favorite wordpress blog is a the one that talks about cerebral palsy in Chicago. As an avid fan of WordPress, he has previously spoken at Wordcamp Minneapolis-St.Paul. He is also a popular speaker and active participant in Chicagoland marketing groups.
